Al Jalil camp is located in the Beqaa valley near the old city of Baalbek. What was once a French army barracks is now a Palestinian refugee camp. Because of its close proximity to the Syrian borders, many Syrian families sought safety there.

JCC was asked to take over when it became clear that the older Syrian refugee students could not handle the Lebanese curriculum. The Sidon-based program grew to include students from the camp who later traveled to Syria for accreditation exams.
